Kigaku, the 'science of spirit', is Japanese astrology, which follows a twelve-year cycle relative to that of Chinese astrology. This cycle is corresponded by the Chinese animal signs whose characteristics are attributed to people born under these signs. The only difference that i've noted between Japanese and Chinese astrology is that Kigaku has stars (made up of a colour and an element) involved in the cycle that can influence the characteristics of a person born under a certain star.

There are 9 stars in Kigaku, each of which are distinctly characterised by their number (or natal year), colour, element, and animal sign.

If you are familiar with Chinese Astrology, then calculating your animal sign in Kigaku follows the same method: by your year of birth.
If you're not familiar with Eastern Astrology, then don't worry. There's a
table chart that will help you find your animal sign, star, and element.

People born in the same year don't always have the same characteristics. The season periods they are born in are matched with the elements that defines their characters. The chart below shows it:

Your Kigaku

This is all i can cover on Kigaku as there is more detail to Kigaku such as the combinations of numbers and colours with animals. You would have noticed in the table chart that an animal can be combined with either one of three stars, depending on the year of birth. I will be uploading compatibility charts when i get around to learning them. :P
